There is something profound that happens when we gather in community. Whether at our place of worship, at the kitchen table, or in wellness.
A 2017 study found that Community Acupuncture paired with supplementary Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) modalities was found effective for the alleviation of chronic neck, shoulder, back, and osteoarthritis pain. Of note, the researchers designed the study to determine if a low-cost method of providing acupuncture for the treatment of chronic pain is effective. Since community acupuncture is provided in an open space with others in the same room, it lends the opportunity for folks to be able to receive affordable care. Thus, for this study, the community acupuncture style was chosen as the efficient delivery system.
At LOAM, we value affordable access to Acupuncture and Chinese medical services in Lima-Allen county. We offer a Community Acupuncture Program every 2nd & 4th Friday. The gathering will begin promptly at 5 pm and ends at 6 pm. Each session is $10 – $30 sliding scale, and are held our downtown clinic. We utilize a 5-point auricular protocol (acupuncture points on the ear) known as NADA in a community setting, which means others will be in the room with you. This protocol is an accessible approach, and has been used in a variety of settings from international relief efforts to rehabilitation centers.
There are a total of 8 community acupuncture sessions scheduled for the remainder of the year. Please visit our Facebook event page for more details. The dates are as follows:
- August 24th
- September 14th & 28th
- October 12th & 26th
- November 9th & 23rd
- December 14th
We’re located in downtown Lima, OH at 114 N West St #203 — right behind the Meeting Place on Market. We hope to see you at a session, or two (or more!).
In solidarity, Christian
