TRACING TIME: A Nature Writing Workshop (Session Two)

“As I think about my nearly 100 years and these 100 hundred books, I want my life to challenge people to think philosophically. I want people to ask themselves and each other what time it is on the clock of the world.” —Grace Lee Boggs

Grace Lee Boggs, a beloved philosopher, author, organizer, and feminist, was born in 1915. The daughter of Chinese immigrants, Boggs made a lifelong commitment to civil rights, labor rights, and racial justice.

In an essay written in 2014, a year before her 100th birthday, she asked a stirring question: What time is it on the clock of the world?

This question, timeless in its essence, remains in the hearts and minds of many. It is at once an inquiry into the nature of humanity and the reality within which we live, as well as a call to action.

To understand what time it is on the clock of the world, we must retrace a path back into deep time, into time that is non-linear and always unfolding.

This is a 90-minute contemplative nature writing workshop blending mindfulness and observation to explore the connection between the inner self and the natural world. Through breathing meditation, we’ll trace the early formation of life on Earth as it slowly emerged from sea to land. Then, we’ll apply reflective writing techniques further to embody a renewed remembrance of time and place.

Registration is open from November 20, 2025, until December 11, 2025. This workshop will be offered on two Saturday sessions. The exchange is $35 per workshop, which includes a recording of each session. If the cost is financially prohibitive, please email me at info@loamacupuncture.com.
